Senior Buyer

A great opportunity for a Procurement professional to join a busy organisation as a Senior Buyer

Key Responsibilities of the Senior Buyer;
Purchasing activities including pricing, discounts, negotiating terms and long-term contracts where applicable with suppliers.
Negotiate best terms with suppliers, whilst maintaining efficient output of purchase orders, to reach highest quality at best value.
Establish source selection criteria for evaluation of quotations including target pricing.
Evaluate quotations received from prospective suppliers and makes decisions regarding award of purchase orders.
Implement formal and legal contractual documentation into the purchase orders, encompassing all corporate and government requirements.
Resolve discrepancies between purchase order requirements and supplier performance.
Ensure compliance to government laws, regulations and procurement policies and procedures.
Identify problem areas, initiate corrective action and establish problem resolution dates in a timely manner.
Maintain current and accurate purchase order data in the purchasing system.

Personal Specification of the Senior Buyer;
Degree qualified or equivalent.
CIPS qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.
Proven Procurement experience.
Strong Commercial Acumen.
Experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment.
Excellent communication & negotiation skills
Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.
Enthusiastic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
Able to multi-task and manage own time effectively.
Able to work under pressure and to set deadlines.
