A fantastic opportunity for an experienced Procurement professional to join a leading organisation as a Buyer.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;

  • Responsible for the full end to end purchasing process from sourcing against a definition of need through to confirmation of delivery and supplier payment.
  • Utilise agreements to obtain best efficiency and cost savings for the overall benefit of the business.
  • Instigate and conduct supplier meetings where appropriate to support operational objectives.
  • Prepare, issue and evaluate tenders and other procurement documentation.
  • Work with other Supply Chain staff to support and implement the agreed sourcing strategies across selected categories.
  • Ensure the timely and efficient provision of all goods and services within a category including sourcing of one off and infrequently purchased items through to setting up ongoing supply contracts.
  • Identify opportunities to drive service and maximise value for money.
  • Conduct regular analysis of supplier spend and volume data, reducing overall supply chain costs or leveraging spends where scale allows.
  • Through negotiation and good procurement practice achieve cost and efficiency savings to exceed the departmental targets.
  • Promote communication and sharing of information within the team and with customers.
  • Manage the communication between suppliers and the business regarding supply and commercial issues.
  • Ensure the relevant data in purchasing systems is updated and maintained in a timely and accurate manner.
  • Resolve invoice queries and supplier disputes.

Personal Specification of the Buyer;

  • Proven Procurement experience.
  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • CIPS qualification or studying towards preferred but not essential.
  • Experience within a Manufacturing or Engineering environment.
  • Excellent negotiation skills are essential.
  • Strong Commercial acumen.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems.
  • Enthusiastic and ability to work effectively as part of a team
  • Able to work under pressure and to set deadlines.
