£30000 - £32000 per annum
A great opportunity for an experienced Purchasing professional to join a leading manufacturing organisation as a Buyer. The successful candidate will be responsible for managing the purchasing process in a cost effective and timely manner in order to meet production schedules.
Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;
Analyse and action purchasing demands generated via the MRP system to meet Production schedules.
Obtain quotations and place orders with suppliers in a timely manner.
Ensure all orders are placed within correct authority levels.
Communicate effectively with suppliers to chase outstanding items highlighted by Overdue Reports or advise of changes in Company requirements.
Support with negotiation and management of Supplier Terms and Conditions and Contracts.
Investigate and take corrective action to address discrepancies in deliveries of goods.
Work alongside the Quality department to help manage supplier quality.
Raise supplier reject notes in a timely manner and follow up on supplier corrective actions.
Identify new suppliers and ensure a comprehensive vetting process is undertaken, including the supplier's ability to meet quality standards and agreement of terms and conditions.
Effectively manage supplier relationships, using supplier performance management tools, including KPI's.
Ensure system data integrity at all times.
Build and maintain working relationships with other internal Departments across the Company.
Personal Specification of the Buyer;
Purchasing / Procurement experience is essential.
Experience within a manufacturing environment.
Good General Level of Education.
Excellent IT skills including MS Office.
Good working knowledge of ERP / MRP systems.
Strong communication skills
Ability to work well as part of a team
Self-motivated and able to work independently
This role would be suitable for individuals with experience in Procurement, Buying, Customer Service, Supply Chain, Sales or Purchasing.
