Category Manager

A fantastic opportunity for a Category Manager to join the procurement team of one of the leading transport firms in the UK and Europe based in Derby with a salary up to £70k. This Category Manager is responsible for autonomously managing a direct engineering procurement category including M&E, commodities and technologies.

Candidates will have previous category experience in Capital Expenditure or MRO procurement (engineering spare parts and materials) and be eager to develop themselves within their career.

Role Responsibilities of the Category Manager:

• Assuming full responsibility for a holistic Category Strategy for the Category under management
• Delivering tangible business benefits in terms of significant, sustainable cost reductions in line with Category benefits target, operational supply management efficiencies and/or broad-based supplier performance improvements
• Developing and leading breakthrough business projects in spend categories using advanced category management tools
• Understanding full life cycle costs and developing appropriate cost/procurement models for decision making and performance reporting in specific spend categories
• Building supplier relationships with key vendors & service providers to deliver results-based business advantage

Experience required of the Category Manager

• Minimum 3-5 years Procurement and/or Category Management experience
• Demonstrable record of delivering significant tangible financial benefits
• Strong analytical and financial capabilities
• Strong commercial acumen/negotiating skills
• Developed interpersonal and influencing skills
• Sourcing experience with a strategic, results-based orientation
• Supplier Contract Management skills and attributes

Salary:

Up to £70,000 + car allowance (£5,200) + 20% bonus. It's also a hybrid position, requiring 2-3 days in office per week.

This role will be well suited to you if you have previous experience within Purchasing or Procurement as a Category Manager or Procurement Manager and are from and MRO or Engineering background.
