Key Responsibilities of the Graduate Buyer:

  • Define and deliver cost reduction initiatives in line with set targets.
  • Define appropriate category strategy incorporating business needs and priorities.
  • Create and manage monthly tracker for key raw materials.
  • Manage day to day supplier relationships and performance.
  • Conduct market analysis and influencing factors within given category of spend.
  • Define and execute Supplier Relationship Management strategy for key suppliers.
  • Analyse category spend and translate into meaningful insights driving sourcing decisions.
  • Proactively manage costs with suppliers by leveraging various cost elements.
  • Negotiate best total cost with suppliers.
  • Implement and manage contractual agreements.
  • Identify risks at supplier level, prioritise and execute mitigation plans accordingly.

Personal Specification of the Graduate Buyer;

  • Degree qualified or equivalent.
  • Strong communication and negotiation skills.
  • Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills.
  • Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.
  • Ability to effectively prioritise workload.
  • Strong problem-solving skills.

This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Controller, Supplier Manager or Buyer.
