Procurement Manager

A fantastic opportunity for a Procurement Manager has arisen to join a bespoke engineering company in Oxfordshire. This role has a strong focus on sourcing and supplier development, and there will be continuous collaboration with Engineering, and experience with Engineering drawings, Project Buying and NPI / NPD would fit very well with this role.

Candidates will have previous experience within Purchasing or Procurement specifically within a technical manufacturing environment and Ideally with Prototypes, New Product, Product Development and bespoke technical products as a Project Buyer, Technical Buyer, Procurement Manager or Senior Buyer

Role responsibilities of the Purchasing Team Leader include:

  • Being a Key contact and support for Procurement
  • Responsible for local procurement strategies
  • Responsible for technical clarification in collaboration with Engineering and Planning department
  • Cost management and compliance with project targets within purchasing processes
  • Supplier Relationship Management and Supplier development (cost, quality, innovation, risk management)
  • To ensure the supply and a sustainable risk management,
  • Analysis of the supplier market and sourcing activities and to execute supplier enquiries and price comparisons (RFI, RFQ)
  • Select and qualify new suppliers, responsible for local supplier ratings and supplier development
  • Lead contract Negotiations, agreeing on terms and conditions with suppliers
  • Benchmarking and Cost down initiatives on long and short term suppliers and implementing Long and short term agreements with key suppliers
  • Coordination of process within procurement, including Purchase Order Processing, contracts, and order confirmation
  • Support of projects from the start to final project delivery in all purchasing related issues as well as delivery-time and material control
  • Managing Quotations from design phase to implementation

Person Specification of the Purchasing Team Leader:

  • Experience in a Procurement within engineering in a project related industry
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and to work well under pressure
  • Effective written and spoken communication
  • Proven track record in delivering projects and cost savings
  • Legal awareness regarding capital contracts and working knowledge of MF1, NEC and FIDIC contracts
  • Experience with ISO accreditation (9001, 14001) would be an advantage
