Senior Category Manager - Steel/Metals

I have a high-level category manager role for an automotive manufacturing company based outside of Stafford. The role will be working with a large commodity portfolio which will be metals, and they need someone who has experience in this area.

This role would be best suited for someone who is a Category manager, Commodity Manager, Commodity Buyer, Technical Buyer, Engineering Buyer, Senior Buyer or a Purchasing Manager

Role responsibilities of the Senior Category Manager:

Ensure that strategies and preferred partners are engaged early on NPIP projects.
Responsible for Global Supplier Nomination for components
Agree cost targets and delivery of these throughout the NPI process.

To be responsible for approving new suppliers
Set targets for achieving preferred Warranty Agreements with key existing suppliers.
Responsible for delivering annual budgets on a Global basis and provide a monthly cost movement report

To promote activity within the supply base and support the implementation of approved projects.
To ensure that payment terms within the category are preferred.
To ensure Long Term Agreements are in place with Key suppliers.

To ensure that preferred Warranty Agreements are in place with 'core' suppliers
To ensure that there is enough capacity within the supply base

Setting the strategic direction that is in line with the expectations of the business and lead a team of Buyers.
To be responsible for recruiting and forming a team that can support both the ongoing management of the category and the needs of NPI programmes.
To provide leadership and support with regards to the team member's individual progression.
Leading the development and deployment of Global Category Strategies.
To ensure that formal supplier evaluation reviews take place with appropriate suppliers.

Person Specification of the Senior Category Manager:

Proven managerial experience
10 years relevant experience
Experience in an Engineering/Manufacturing environment
Global sourcing experience

Salary

£50,000 +
