A fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Procurement professional to join a leading Manufacturing organisation as a Supplier Development Engineer. This role will be responsible for developing world-class suppliers and improving supplier performance by leading initiatives to ensure that company targets are met.
Specific Job Responsibilities of the Supplier Development Engineer;
Provide strategic and tactical leadership for supplier assessment and development.
Drive and support Supplier Delivery Performance and achieve the goal of 95% on-time delivery performance, quality and cost goals.
Work with the commodity management, global purchasing and factory support teams to ensure that the supply chain for raw materials are well developed and managed.
Undertake periodic risk analysis of the supply base.
Create and implement plans to address any potential risks.
Ensure supplier capacity and capability adequately supports operations material needs and availability globally.
Deploy Lean Tools to meet and exceed targeted improvements in safety, quality, delivery, lead time reduction, cost and innovation in the supply base
Support the development and maintenance of effective supplier relationships to achieve company goals.
Review and audit supplier processes and identify improvements for tangible productivity gains.
Provide Lean and/or Six Sigma training or consulting to suppliers as applicable.
Develop and implement of the supplier quality manual to key suppliers
Personal Specification of the Supplier Development Engineer;
Degree / HND qualified or equivalent.
Additional professional qualifications would be an advantage.
Significant Procurement experience within a manufacturing environment.
Supplier management and development experience is essential.
Lean manufacturing experience within a small to medium sized organisation.
Understanding of lean manufacturing concepts including; Kanban, Kaizen and Six Sigma.
Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
Strong problem-solving abilities.
Working knowledge of MRP systems.
Self-Motivated and Enthusiastic.
Flexibility to travel extensively to meet with suppliers.
Full, clean driving licence.
This role would suit an individual with previous experience in the following roles; Supplier Quality Engineer, Vendor Manager, Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager, Procurement Engineer, Supplier Manager.
