I am working with a public sector organisation based in Central London who are looking for an Assistant Procurement Manager who has great experience in delivering cost savings and improving suppliers service within their categories and tenders through effective negotiations and management skills. The Assistant Procurement Manager will be accountable for the day to day operational management of the procurement function, its service level performance and customer service. This role will report into the Procurement Manager

Main responsibilities of the Assistant Procurement Manager

• Work effectively as part of a team collaborating with colleagues in delivering a high quality and efficient service to customers
• Assist the procurement manage to drive effective performance from all staff
• Responsible for delivering cost savings
• Ensure that all RFP, RFQ and other processes are delivered at a high level and correctly
• Responsible for 1 member of staff (direct report)
• Responsible for drafting contracts
• Proactively identify purchasing opportunities in all categories to support business units to reduce costs and improve service

Skills & Experience required of the Assistant Procurement Manager

• Experience of managing, developing and motivating staff
• Influencing and negotiating skills
• Understanding of procurement and associated financial processes
• Experience within contract and supplier management
• Confident in the use of IT applications
• Effective communication with and engagement of staff

Salary £35,000
