A brilliant opportunity has arisen to join a well-known business who is seeking a Buyer to join their team. They are an integral player in their field and strive to offer an environment that allows its employees to not only develop professionally but also personally. In this exciting role the Buyer will be key to supporting the procurement team in order to continually improve performance and processes. The successful individual will also have some core involvement with internal and external stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:

  • Obtain appropriate management information to inform the decision making process & seek appropriate authorisation for contractual commitment and ensure all stakeholders are satisfied with the agreed solution
  • Maintain regular contact with stakeholders to discuss contract performance & identify potential risks of contract shortfalls and develop contingency plans
  • Undertake all necessary research to identify stakeholder needs and objectives.
  • Consider best value principles and seek opportunities to improve leverage to achieve competitive advantage for the business
  • Develop performance review systems in line with category
  • Support Category stakeholder community through the positive & constructive contribution to category planning and strategy process and report back category manager to ensure tools and processes are used and followed.
  • Develop market expertise and business intelligence as part of category team
  • Implementation and on-going management of the commodity strategy and input into driving future category direction
  • Negotiate contractual agreements with external providers which ensure that service, quality, added value, total cost, security of supply and the deployment of suppliers capabilities in innovation are secured for the company

Personal Specification of the Buyer:

  • Knowledge of procurement processes and procedures
  • Management of procurement projects that cross functional and business boundaries incorporating a diverse range of relevant products and service
  • Ability to take decisions in view of long-term and short-term cost and benefit
  • Experience of working to reach agreement on compromise where there are areas of disagreement
  • Commitment to CIPS or other Post Graduate qualification (e.g. CIPS, MBA, DMS) desirable
