A great opportunity for a dynamic procurement professional to join a leading organisation as a Buyer, to be responsible for managing the spend in respect of purchasing activities, ensuring that products and services are supplied at the lowest possible acquisition cost.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;

Negotiating contracts on behalf of the Company for the supply of requisitioned or specified materials, goods and services.

Negotiation and raising specific contracts with Sub Contractors.

Managing Cost reduction projects on areas of significant services spend.

To develop and manage the supplier base. Continue to improve Supplier Payment Terms in line with Finance timetable.

Keeping abreast of supply market trends.

Preparation of Management Plan in line with company procedures & Central Purchasing guide lines.

Manage the commercial relationship with suppliers regarding price, lead time and supply assurance.

Identifying single source materials and approving new sources of supply to reduce supply risks.

Work closely with internal customers and external suppliers to ensure the most cost-effective solutions with respect to materials and goods.

Raise purchase orders and negotiate contracts on behalf of the Company for the supply of requisitioned or specified materials and goods.

Ensuring accurate SAP records are maintained.

Undertake analysis of price variation by focusing on product cost drivers and cost reduction.

Work closely with the Engineering function to reduce costs using the Design to Cost (DTC) tool.

Positively encouraging suppliers to challenge designs and manufacturing methods with a view to reducing costs.

Strategically maintain competition amongst suppliers through communication, negotiation, appraisal and evaluation & competitive tendering.

Manage the vendor rating and contractor approval processes.

Identify and assess commercial advantages to be gained from low cost manufacturing countries.

Personal Specification of the Buyer;

Educated to Degree Level or equivalent.

Proven Purchasing experience.

Experience within a Manufacturing / Engineering environment.

Strong commercial acumen.

Excellent communication & negotiation skills.

Excellent IT skills including MS Office.

Good working knowledge of SAP / MRP.

Driven and flexible attitude.

Enthusiastic and ability to work effectively as part of a team.
