A great opportunity for an experienced procurement professional to join a leading manufacturing organisation as a Buyer on an initial 6-month fixed term contract basis.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;

Use Materials Requirement Planning (MRP) system to identify materials required.

Ensure that these Materials are ordered and delivered on-time.

Create accurate Purchase Orders ensuring that part numbers and issue numbers have been entered

correctly.

Negotiate price and delivery lead-times with suppliers.

Audit suppliers and produce minutes of supplier meetings.

Expedite orders and minimise shortages.

Liaise with Planner to highlight problems meeting delivery schedules.

Identify new suppliers to ensure plans are met.

Reduce material cost whilst not compromising quality and on-time delivery.

Negotiate improved terms & conditions and payment terms to reduce cost of acquisition.

Support in preparing data for monthly reporting.

Personal Specification of the Buyer;

Proven Purchasing experience within a manufacturing environment.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills.

Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.

Ability to effectively prioritise workload.

Strong problem-solving skills.

Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Controller, Supplier Manager or Buyer.
