A fantastic new opportunity for a dynamic procurement professional to join a leading manufacturing organisation as a Buyer. The Buyer will be responsible for developing and executing the material ordering and delivery strategy for specific supply chains, and to ensure all material requirements are communicated effectively and are in line with manufacturing needs.

 

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer;

You shall form part of the growth strategy and will play a crucial part in the development of the business whereby you will deliver significant change and improvement

Be part of a team who are commencing the journey of change.

Have extensive client liaison, building relationships and maximising the potential of the forwarding business

You will be managing a high percentage of the Moulding & Far East supplier categories and planning the delivery of material against agreed supplier schedules

Have control of the supplier relationships, inclusive of SLA management and driving Quarterly business reviews & conducting full trend analysis and managing of supplier performance

Working closely with internal stakeholders and external suppliers, to develop cost saving strategies, by identifying opportunities for supplier and commodity consolidation.

Work with Quality Department and suppliers to ensure corrective actions are completed in a timely manner using robust solutions

You will attend the daily production meetings and communicate supply status on behalf of the buying team.

 

Personal Specification of the Buyer;

CIPS qualification would be an advantage.

Purchasing experience within a high volume manufacturing environment.

Strong communication and negotiation skills.

Excellent IT skills including Intermediate Excel skills.

Good working knowledge of MRP / ERP systems.

Ability to effectively prioritise workload.

Ability to work well on own initiative and as part of a team.

Strong problem solving skills.

Self-motivated and enthusiastic.

Flexibility to travel to meet suppliers as required.

 

This role would also suit you if you have held a role within purchasing or procurement as a Junior Buyer, Purchasing Controller, Supplier Manager or Buyer.
