Buyer - Northampton

I have a great opportunity for a Buyer to join a hugely successful Engineering company in Northampton. My client is in the Automotive sector, and need someone from a Purchasing, Procurement or Materials background who is familiar with this industry, to join them as a Buyer

This role will be working within a supportive, exciting and reactive environment, working on multiple and exciting projects, and will offer fantastic mentorship and growth for the right person to develop their career within Purchasing.

This role would suit someone who has experience working in Materials and Purchasing, as a Junior Buyer, Procurement Officer, Purchasing Assistant, or Material Planner or Material Scheduler.

Key Responsibilities of the Buyer:

  • Control and ownership of full purchase cycle from order process to supplier sourcing, authorisation, to delivery receipt
  • Work closely with the Engineering, Design and Quality teams in managing BOM components
  • Determining objective supplier sourcing, selection and nomination process
  • Interpret technical drawings, arrange RFQ, NDS documentations
  • Raise administer purchase orders, ensuring deliveries are on-time and in full
  • Negotiating price and delivery to meet demand and project BOM costs
  • Optimise stock levels and interpreting MRP/SAP demand
  • Continual updating of purchasing data on SAP
  • Continuous improvement of purchasing processes
  • Maintaining and building relationships with key suppliers

Personal Specification of the Buyer

  • Experience in Purchasing or Materials
  • BOM experience
  • Sap Experience (desirable, however not necessary)
  • Strong IT Skills with an MRP/ERP system
  • Engineering or Automotive background
  • Excellent team player, who can work well autonomously
  • Someone who can work in a highly reactive and high-pressure environment

Salary

£28,000

Working Hours & Benefits:

  • Monday to Friday 8:00am - 5:00pm
  • 25 Days (Plus Days Holidays)
  • Pension
