Category Manager (Indirects)

A local authority based near Bath are looking for a Procurement Specialist/Category Manager to join their team on a 12-month contract. This procurement opportunity has been created due to business growth and recent acquisitions. The council are looking for an ambitious, innovative and confident individual to manage these challenging contracts and build superb relationships with internal and external stakeholders. For this position, it is essential that you have extensive procurement experience within category management and contract management. This role will be focusing solely on indirect procurement, and more specifically construction so if you have experience within new build, refurbishment, regeneration or with NEC contracts that would be a bonus!

Candidates will have previous experience within purchasing or procurement, at Buyer, Senior Buyer, Category Manager or Procurement Manager level and be keen to progress in their career.

Role responsibilities of the Category Manager include:

• Category management for indirect procurement categories
• Creating category strategies
• Building superb relationships with internal and external stakeholders
• Strong contract management expertise
• Provide advice, guidance and support to other colleagues about procurement projects
• Expert knowledge of OJEU/Public Contract Regulations 2015
• Excellent ICT skills

Person Specification of the Category Manager role:

• Educated to degree level or equivalent
• Extensive procurement experience across indirect categories
• Studying towards MCIPS
• Strong communication skills
• Strong negotiation skills
