Butler Ross are supporting an award-winning organisation based in Bromley with the recruitment of a Commercial Manager. This role sits within the Contract Management team and the main aim is to ensure that they are maximising value from their supplier relationships and contracts. As an individual, you will be allocated your own suppliers and you will work very closely with them to manage the relationship.

Main responsibilities of the Commercial Manager

  • Developing long lasting relationships with suppliers
  • Ensuring that all decisions are in line with the category and supply chain strategy
  • Carry out contract reviews, both operational and strategic and address any performance issues
  • Carry out additional sourcing requirements after a contract review
  • Continue to bring continuous improvement and collaboration from your supplier base, making sure that the suppliers are fully engaged with the organisation
  • Analyse risk, and find solutions to any issues and deal with suppliers when the do not meet their contractual obligations

Skills & Experience required of the Commercial Manager

  • Excellent relationship management skills
  • Sourcing experience - you need to understand the full end to end procurement process
  • Strong commercial acumen - these suppliers are sometimes very challenging
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • The ability to work under pressure and the ability to prioritise - this role is very reactive
  • You will have several years' experience working in a Category Manager/Procurement Manager/Commercial Manager role, managing several suppliers at any one time
