Senior Buyer

Butler Ross have 2 fantastic opportunities for Senior Buyer to come and join a new team within a FTSE 100 company based in Gloucestershire. These are both permanent roles based in a fast paced and highly regulated manufacturing company that are the industry leaders in their field. These buyers will be responsible for the full procurement cycle and will have autonomy to make decisions, identify suppliers, award contracts and ensure suitability.

This role offers 50% working from home and flexible working.

This role will be well suited to a Senior Buyer, Buyer, Lead Buyer, Procurement Specialist, Procurement Lead, Purchasing Lead, Category Manager, Commodity Manager or Category Lead.

Duties of the Senior Buyer

  • Support the continuity of supply of brought goods/services and effective management of supplier base.
  • Develop supplier base and create lasting relationships with suppliers and other stakeholders.
  • Lead negotiations to promote continuous improvement and cost savings.
  • Alignment of supplier agreements and supplier selection with business values, performance, cost objectives, labour and sustainability requirements.
  • Working closely with all members of the purchasing department, suppliers, engineers, EHS team and compliance/quality team.
  • Mainly working with commodities such as Pressings, Electronics, Heat Exchange and Pumps but these roles will be looking after various direct categories.
  • Annual trip to suppliers, the vast majority are in the UK but several are overseas. Trips may become more frequent than annually but this will only be occasional travel inline with covid guidelines.

Experience required of the Senior Buyer

  • End to end procurement experience within a fast paced and technical manufacturing/engineering environment.
  • Ideally experience with tendering and contract management and/or drafting, if no experience a good understanding would be beneficial.
  • Excellent negotiation, problem solving and decision making skills.
  • Good IT skills, experience with Microsoft office and MRP/ERP systems.
  • Ability to assess, develop and manage suppliers.
  • Driving license is essential.

Salary: £38,000 - £42,000 + additional benefits.
