A fantastic opportunity for a Lead Project Buyer has arisen to join a bespoke engineering company in Banbury, with a salary range of £40-45k. Looking for a strong Project Buyer, or someone who has worked in a NPI or NPD procurement role would be perfect for this role. The company boasts excellent benefits, on site amenities and a flexible working scheme.

Candidates will have previous experience within purchasing or procurement specifically within a technical manufacturing environment and Ideally with Prototypes, New Product, product Development and bespoke technical products.

Role responsibilities of the Purchasing Team Leader include:

  • Being a Key contact and support for Projects
  • Coordination of purchase-related initiatives within projects, creating and approving Purchase Orders.
  • Cost management in compliance with project targets/milestones within purchasing processes and guidelines as applicable
  • Collaborates with internal stakeholders on a local level (e.g. project manager, material planner and demand owner)
  • Lead, Mentor and Support junior team members
  • Lead Negotiations from tender/bid Stage
  • Benchmarking and Cost downs on long term suppliers
  • Implementing Long term agreements with key suppliers
  • Vendor Management across global and local supply chain
  • Coordination of process within procurement in compliance with procurement guidelines
  • Support of projects from the acquisition phase to final project delivery in all purchasing related issues for projects as well as delivery-time and material control
  • Support the project team in the preparation of Customer presentations and events
  • Contract management
  • Managing Quotations from Design Phase to Implementation
  • Develop and implement appropriate sourcing strategies

Person Specification of the Purchasing Team Leader:

  • Experience in a procurement or logistics function preferably within an engineering in a project related industry
  • Excellent negotiation skills
  • Ability to work under own initiative and to work well under pressure
  • Effective written and spoken communication
  • Ability to deal with external and internal clients at all levels
  • Proven track record in delivering projects and cost savings

Salary

Up to £45k
