A fantastic opportunity for a dynamic Procurement professional to join a leading organisation as a Supplier Development Engineer. This role will be responsible for developing world-class suppliers and improving supplier performance by leading initiatives to ensure that company targets are met.

Specific Job Responsibilities of the Supplier Development Engineer;

Manage the supplier development plans.

Review performance metrics with suppliers and identify areas for improvement.

Drive performance excellence in suppliers.

Manage improvement plans using the full Supplier Development toolkit.

Work closely with Supplier Quality and the supplier to ensure robust Quality procedures are in place and correctly followed.

Lead Continuous Improvement activity initiatives with suppliers.

Work with the supplier to identify and innovate solutions.

Maintain the Supplier Action Log to capture all current initiatives and issues.

Support Procurement in new supplier selection by carrying out assessments to ensure supplier capacity, complexity and sustainability is understood in order to inform decision making.

Manage the supplier through the Supplier Escalation process.

Lead engagement within the organisation to ensure the correct functions are involved and managed to effectively resolve supplier related issues.

Support Category Management initiatives by providing supplier and industry intelligence to inform decision making.

 

Personal Specification of the Supplier Development Engineer;

Degree / HND qualified or equivalent.

Significant Supplier Development experience within a manufacturing environment.

Understanding of Lean Manufacturing concepts including; Kanban, Kaizen and Six Sigma.

Ability to work collaboratively and successfully with cross-functional teams.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.

Strong problem-solving abilities.

Excellent IT skills including MS Office.

Self-Motivated and Enthusiastic.

Flexibility to travel to meet with suppliers.

Full, clean driving licence.

 

This role would suit an individual with previous experience in the following roles; Supplier Quality Engineer, Vendor Manager, Senior Buyer, Purchasing Manager, Procurement Engineer, Supplier Manager.
